A friend of mine said to give my cat garlic and brewers yeast pills to help with fleas. I heard also that garlic is toxic to cats. I am confused. Can anyone help? Also, I'd like to know what other human food is bad for cats.

Garlic, in large amounts, is toxic. But some pet foods contain garlic because in small amounts, it can be helpful. I don't know about it helping with fleas or anything, but don't go shoving whole cloves of garlic down your cat's throat.:)

The garlic in question is in little pills. And how do I administer vinegar? Just rub it on him? I am looking for low cost ways to treat fleas, because I can't afford flea treatment. He does have a flea collar.

go to www.blindcooltech.com, adn listen to the podcats on vinegar. it's one of the uses mentioned there. it's been a while since i heard it, but from what i remember you put a small amount in the drinking water. if i come up with more i'll repost.

I know that bathing your dog in apple cyder vinegar (diluted in water, of course) is a common (natural) way of combatting fleas, but I'm not sure how well a cat would like a vinegar bath!

There's a lot of benefits to adding a bit of apple cyder vinegar to their drinking water as well, some protection against fleas being one of them, though I believe it's more of a preemptive strike, while the bath is a treatment.

I would like to say that my cat is now free of fleas thanks to a dose of Frontline. I am going to stick with that, although it is costly.
